About us-

In 2001, Exploding Head Gallery opened their doors to share innovative contemporary art, ceramics, and the creative spirit of artists with collectors and the general public.

Owners Jodi deVries (BA-Art History) and Linda Welch (BFA-Ceramics; MFA-Textile Design) opened the gallery in dynamic downtown Sacramento. Hosting 12 new and diverse exhibitions per year, with at least four of those focusing on sculptural ceramics, the gallery also carries a wonderful selection of paintings, drawings, and prints, as well as functional and nonfunctional ceramic work. Works on paper are a unique part of the gallery inventory. Well-stocked flat files with original prints, along with paintings, and works on paper provide clients and designers with a beautiful array of works from which to choose.

If you're looking for that perfect gift, the gallery offers a wide variety of original functional ceramic work from many well known Northern California, Northern Pacific Coast and ceramic artists from around the United States.

Exploding Head Gallery is committed to providing awareness, discernment and appreciation of a vast array of contemporary styles, media and expressions. Our mission is to develop an appreciation of and subsequent acquisition of contemporary art.  We strive to assist our patrons in acquiring art reflective of their own creative dimensions.

The gallery offers a comfortable, informative and inviting atmosphere to not only new and experienced art collectors, but also students and general art appreciators.

"If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry."
